Review:
Gun is a movie that kind of movie that you and your friends dream up while playing Cops and Robbers in your backyard. As you pretend to shoot each other and come up with a overly clichéd story about selling and buying of guns. Despite this amaturish setting it was not half bad if you can shut off your brain and see what this film offered. Which is funny violence, campy settings and one brilliant piece of acting by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson at the end of the movie that has to be seen to be believed.

So what is left to say about Gun? Well the acting was believable, 50 Cent can act. Val Kilmer's career is defiantly over. Despite the fact that he can still act somewhat just he looks like a out of work bum on the street corner. Wait he is a out of work bum on a street corner. Alright I know that is low but who cares he got fat and lost his acting ability. So back to the movie the script is focus on the selling and moving of guns and the story of a lowly street thug moving up the ranks to become a big time mid-level to low level dealer of firearms.

That is fine and dandy if it had not stolen so strongly from Too Fast Too Furious. As they bring in a mole who is a ex-con and  is there to tag Rich who is played by 50 Cent and bring down the empire. It is as cookie cutter as one can get and yet somewhat enjoyable for what it is. At no point was I bored or asking why am I watching this. Instead I was more focused on 50 Cent as he proved just like LL Cool J and Will Smith that rappers can act and act well.

It was as if this was his coming out party. As his other works are more or less just stepping stones into what he has done here. If his rap career does ever go south he can easily fill in for many action heroes of today and do well at it. Which say's a lot for what I think of his acting in this movie. As it the only reason I enjoyed it. I wouldn't watch it again for the writing or anything else. Just to see what 50 Cent did with a limited script that he wrote.

As for the verdict? If you can set aside some time and just want a easy going action film with little to no story and looks really pretty. This is a fairly decent movie. Just do not come looking for anything more than that. As you will be disappointed with this film. So take it for what it is worth a straight to dvd feature film with good action and pretty good acting.

My Rating: 2.25/5 Stars
